COMPUTER PROGRAMMING & ELECTRONIC GAME DESIGN
Internships in the MMO department will start to be solicited in late
Fall of 2007. Keep an eye on this website for more information as it
becomes available.
COPYEDITING
These positions are filled for the foreseeable future. Applicants who have already contacted us will remain on file.
Applicants should request the editing test. I warn you now, your performance
on the test is the determining factor in whether or not we take you;
this internship is a finishing course for people with editing class and/or
experience under their belt - not a first overview of the field.
This position requires an excellent grasp of written language, grammar
and diction. The understanding of when and when not to alter text is
paramount. Familiarity with word processing, standard editor's marks
and the use of style manuals and sheets is helpful. Macintosh computer
skills (including Microsoft Word) are a plus, but not essential. In house,
we edit on hard copy and make electronic corrections afterward.
We are willing and eager to train interns to come on as full-time employees.
A junior-year internship followed by courses in the appropriate area
is a pretty strong combination.

DEVELOPMENT
These positions are filled for the foreseeable future. Applicants who have already contacted us will remain on file.
Applicants should request the editing test.
This position is not a writing internship. If you want to write for
White Wolf games, you need to review the Writer's
Guidelines on this
website. However, if you are a good writer you have a better chance at
snagging this internship.
The ideal Development intern would be a well-read humanities major
or graduate with substantial gaming experience. He (or she - we try to
mix around genders on generic pronouns here) would already play and/or
run Storyteller games. He would understand simple word processing and
basic editor's marks. He need not pass the editing test, but he would
still do fairly well on it and would work well either with a team or
independently.
The main duties of this job are inputting style tags and spell-checking
manuscripts. There may be some evaluation of manuscripts and proposals
for publication and possibly some correspondence and online support work.
The position is one in which the ability of the intern is what defines
the role she'll have; everyone carves out her own niche in this department
by skill alone. |
