Submission Guidelines
As we expand our game worlds, White Wolf is always open to ideas from writers and developers. If you have an original concept for our games that you would like to submit, here is the process for submission. But first, keep these notes in mind:
- We will only consider submissions for our intellectual property (i.e. World of Darkness, Scion, Exalted, EVE, etc.). We will not consider new horror settings or fantasy worlds.
- Most (as in the majority) of our work is developed in-house: created by our developers, shipped to freelancers if necessary, and completed again in-house. This is not to discourage you from sending us your idea, but please realize that it is very possible we have that idea in the pipeline somewhere.
- All unsolicited material sent to us must (MUST) also include a Disclosure Form. If there is not a Disclosure Form submitted with the work, it will be shredded immediately, unread. You can download a Disclosure Form here. Just fill out the information, sign it, and send it to us. This is absolutely mandatory. Seriously.
- Before sending in your submission, it is probably best to send an email query. This is not an obligatory step, but it can help. Asking if we even have interest in your idea can save you a lot of a wasted time and effort.
- Please do not send us manuscripts of your proposed book or game. We do not have time to pore over hundreds of pages of text. Not even our interns have the time to spare (we work them into stupors). A short proposal will suffice.
- Some of our game lines are limited series. Only a few titles were planned for these series. If your idea expands some of these limited series, you might want to reconsider.
- Please be professional when submitting your work. This means: type it up neatly and present only the information that pertains to your submission. Do not send us handwritten material. This may sound like a joke, but it is not: we do not like to decipher the mysterious chicken scratch of the unwashed masses.
With this in mind, follow these steps for soliciting your idea to us.
- (Optional) Email a query to us (writingsubmissions@white-wolf.com)
- Download a Disclosure Form and fill it out.
- Write your idea as a proposal. The proposal should be short (2-3 pages) and contain a brief synopsis, brief descriptions of new rules, the setting, how it fits into the game line, etc. Here are the proposal guidelines for our Storytelling Adventure System (SAS) product line; something similar to this format is what we’re looking for.
- Send us the proposal. You can mail it the old-fashioned way. If you choose this route, please mail the material with a SASE to:
Eddy Webb
Alternative Publishing Developer
2075 West Park Place Blvd., Suite G
Stone Mountain, GA 30087
If you prefer email (we prefer it too), please send your material to writingsubmissions@white-wolf.com. Whatever way you send it, DO NOT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE DISCLOSURE FORM.
- We will review the material. There is no guarantee about the length of time between submission and response, so if you don’t hear from us right away, don’t fret. You will get a response when we have had the proper time to mull over your idea. Don’t email or call us to ask about your submission’s status. Patience is a virtue.
If we accept your proposal, we will work with you into turning your idea into a finished product. If your proposal is not accepted, do not be discouraged. We appreciate your suggestions, but there’s only so much time and money available for developing our worlds. Keep sending us your ideas; hopefully you’ll send us one that sticks. Good luck!
