It is great fun to put this thing up - The response has been very good and Iīve inspired at least one player to pick up the Ahrimanes again (Thanks for your e-mail Marko). Iīve re-structured the newsletter to better fit the online-format and to be posted on newsgroups. Unfortunatly you who reads this newsletter on a newsgroup canīt see the picture my girlfriend Sofia Falkenhem has done for this issue. Look it up at the Newsletter-section on www.rack.tk. Off you go and read the rest of the newsletter =) /Alexander Gyhlesten, Kitzune@Tjohoo.se --[1.2 -the Rack Forum News]----------------------- This newsletters didnt have much response on its own forum on Rack.tk - Only two voted (1 Okay and 1 Bravo). Issue #2 also has a poll for you readers, so you can give me quick feedback on my work. It is located here: http://ramzeus.hn.org/~alex/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11 --[1.3 -Next Issue]-------------------------------- Nothing is planed for the third issue of this newsletter, but maby Iīll include an article named "Bloody Sabbat" - How the Ahrimanes can use their sect for better games. On top of that, Iīll try to contact at least on of the three guys that has won Hazimel Storyline-tournaments with Ahrimane decks. If any one of you or know one of them, please contact me. If you got an deck, article, review or comments for/about Ahrimanes Newsletter please send them to: Kitzune@Tjohoo.se. Release date for next issue: 29 January, 2003 --[2.1 -Sterility]---------------------------------- By: Alexander Gyhlesten All Ahrimanes that are printed in Bloodlines (will there ever be more or did clan Tremere fetch the rest?) has the disadvantage Sterile. The rulebook states: Sterile: A vampire that cannot take an action to create another vampire, nor take the Revelations of the Sire action. In Ahrimanes case this disallow them to do these creat-another-vampire-actions: Creation Rites and The Embrace. Is this a disadvantage to take seriously? Consider this: It shuts off an option. Cute, tiny baby Ahrimanes cant be created by the original Ahrimanes. But, other vampires that clan impersonates themselves to Ahrimanes can create new vampires, as the Sterility isnt a clan-based flaw (as the blood curse is for Assamites). Its still not a lethal drawback, but its there and disables a strategy. Not using Revelation of the Sire isnt considered to be a drawback at all, since when did you see the Ahrimanes play with Caitiffs? Or whanting to spoil the brats of other Methuselahs with the same card? This flaw will perhaps mean a lot more in the future if thereīs ever going to be some other action-cards similar to the ones today, whitch sterile vampires cant use. As it is to day, I rather play sterile than infernal :) --[2.2 -Bad Girls Ritual Challange]----------------- Im going to compare two similar cards in this issue and this is the card: The Wildebeest Cardtype: Action Clan: Ahrimanes Cost: 1 blood +1 stealth action. Put this card on the acting Ahrimane. This Ahrimane gets +1 strength and -1 stealth and gets 1 optional maneuver each combat. He or she cannot use equipment and cannot have retainers (any retainers on this vampire are burned). A vampire can have only one The Wildebeest. The great side of this card is the +1 Strength and the optional maneuver. For the same cost as Ritual Challange for the Woodpeckers the Battle Cats gains a maneuver. The side effects of becoming a nasty Wildebeest dont look good. A) Not using retainers. Ahrimanes got animalism so its tempting to pack a great deal of dogs, ravens or some other animals in your deck. A Wolf Companion is equal to +1 Strength in my book, and if your sweathearts go with the murderous crows and uses Aid from Bats in battle its a lot better than being on the Wild side. B) -1 Stealth. Ookay. No stealth when hunting is not good. Sure, you can add Taste of Vitae (you got +1 Strength after all) - But what about Fortituders and/or the Combat runners. I would realy hate all clans that got Fortitude/Auspex if one of my vampires wanted to hunt. C) No equipment. That does it! If my Juanita cant have a Bang Nakh my whole conceptīs down the drain ;) I dont know how Im supposed to make this card co-operate with any Ahrimane deck. Im more than happy to have a bunch of suggestions about the Wildebeest since there got to be some use of it. Tilī then Howler has to accept only having one maneuver ;) --[3.1 -Comments on Last months deck]--------------- Not much noise on Ahrimane Newsletters own forum, but on the Google-group there was two guys I want to have a minute or two in the spotlight. They dropped some comments on the deck I presented last issue (and Ahrimanes as a whole) and they are: Eric Simon, who said: > Good concept. Protean is generally better than Song in > the Dark, which is more rare and more expensive. > Definitely iffy about the Vials. I know they make an OK > answer to Celerity or Obtenebration, but so do lots and > lots of Crows. Tossing in a Murder or two might be better > than the Vials. You'll get more use out of them, certainly. > Dump the investments for more Blood Dolls. You've got > the Hungry Coyote. Use it. and Halycan 2, who just nagged ;) > Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the Ahrimanes. They're > just a bunch of unruly Sabbat who are wanna-be Gangrels, > and with a militant feminist wing. Not exactly my thing > if you know what I mean. Spiritus also sort of strikes > me as a lame discipline. Thanks guys for shareing. -[3.1 -The Politically Correct Political Activists]---- This months deck was created by TheLasombra and his voting Ahrimanes. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Mr. Thompson: Author: Jeff "TheLasombra" Thompson Strategy: Howler and The Siamese are your focus vampires, as always with the Ahrimanes. Both can become Cardinals, and should as soon as you draw the Cardinal Benedictions. The Crusade should only be used on Juanita Santiago, as she cannot become old enough to be a Cardinal with the cards currently in the deck. Choose your targets carefully, and use Bribes to sway those uninvolved to your way of thinking and the deck does very well.
