| | White Wolf Fiction Contest Winner is Announced Atlanta, GA – March 27, 2007 Posted: 2007-03-27 Two years ago, 100 writers were invited, from a large pool of submissions, to write the first chapter of a proposed novel set in the World of Darkness. Those 100 were whittled down to a final group of five authors, each of whom was asked to write a complete first draft of their novel, submitting it for review by a committee of White Wolf writers and developers.
The winning novel in this fiction contest would demonstrate knowledge of the World of Darkness, and an understanding of the important themes of this modern horror setting. The five Authors were given several months to complete the initial draft, working under the guidance of Stewart Wieck, co-founder of White Wolf and co-creator of the World of Darkness.
After much deliberation, a winner has finally been selected. The grand prize of a $10,000 advance for the publication of his novel goes to: Joshua Alan Doetsch.
Joshua fell back on writing ever since the sad day the high school guidance counselor informed him that "Spiderman" was not a viable vocation. If you would like to get a taste of his writing style, two of his stories, "Varmints" and "For Poor Lucy," can be read on the British web-magazine, Bloodlust UK.
We are excited to be bringing this visionary of the World of Darkness into print, heralding a new era in White Wolf fiction. Congrats to all our finalists and to Joshua for his thrilling submission.
