Fan Fest I wasn’t in the best position to experience everything that happened at Fan Fest, but from my seat in the CCG tournament, everything was amazing. Nearly 700 gamers were gathered together to eat, sleep and breathe EVE for an entire weekend, and yet everything still managed to run smoothly. What really surprised me was the level of dedication the fans felt not only to the online game, but to the universe as a whole. Wherever the card players set up a game amongst themselves, an equal number of spectators would gather to comment or learn the game. Though it was secondary to begin with, and was scheduled for a time that competed with the big PvP tournament, the CCG tournament did well. Twenty people took the time to compete, and we ended up with a tense championship match. Even though Second Genesis is a new game, everyone at the Fan Fest was willing to accept it as a part of the universe they already loved. |
