V:EKN Official Toreador Newsletter Mars 2004



Late Mars but winter refuses to let go of Sweden.



I have been playing along with the new cards for a while now, and

there really isn't that much for your normal Toreador deck. I have

mentioned a true gemearlier, the Sire's Index Finger and below are

a few more cards that should find their way into some decks dependent

on clan Toreador.



This month also features a slightly different take on my old looping

Toreador Grand Ball deck. With three large vampires sharing basic

Thaumaturgy - why not? The deck is tested a couple of times. Won a

table and crumbled at another. If nothing else watching the faces

of your co-players when a Toreador plays Rutor's Hand has a certain

value in itself.



I'm also fooling around with a Legion-deck, but that idea needs further

tweaking and polishing. Maybe a later newsletter - if it turns out

to be a concept that works even during the games when you're not dealt

an ideal hand.

Cards of the month:



Cardname: WMRH Talk Radio

Cardtype: Master

Set: BH

Cost: 1 pool

Cardtext: Master: unique location.

Tap to give any minion +1 intercept for the current action. If that minion doesn't successfully block the action, burn 1 pool after the action resolves.



Cheap permanent intercept for a clan that usually should not fail

to block. As an added bonus this card can be used to force-feed

intercept to another blocking deck in order to prevent it from

cycling cards.





Cardname: Kaymakli Barrier

Cardtype: Action

Set: BH

Cost: 1 pool

Cardtext: Requires a ready vampire. Unique.

(D) Put this card on a younger ready vampire. You still control this card. This vampire cannot block undirected actions. (D) actions cost this vampire an additional blood.



As the Toreador aren't exactly renowned for stealth anything that can

help us to finish of an action succesfully is helpful. This card

should more often than not be played on the key-blocker belonging

to your predator.

Observe that there is no inherent stealth in this action.





Cardname: Mask Empathy

Cardtype: Combat

Set: BH

Discipline: Presence

Cardtext: [pre] Strike: ranged. Burn a retainer employed by the opposing minion (usable at close range).

[PRE] Play before range is determined. This vampire burns 1 blood to burn a retainer employed by the opposing minion.



Tired of that Gangrel/Nosferatu aviary blocking everything you do? Well,

this is the card to get rid of those persky birds.





Deck of the month:



Name:     Red Magic





Description:     This deck owes to an idea by Antonio Pascual Moreno Guardiola, writer of the Spanish Toreador Newsletter. I have taken the idea into a quite different direction, but he was the one who came up with magic Toreador as a concept.



Vote and bloat unblockably and use that second action for either just standing untapped, equip, reqruit or punch in that finishing bleed.



If you're surrounded by heavy combat this deck will sink like a stone.
