About White Wolf Entertainment Today

What we do

Our stories are critical fictions, set in a dark reflection of our own world, where real monsters prey on the weak and no-one is innocent. You will find our characters to sometimes represent extreme opinions ranging from pre-modern chauvinism and religious fundamentalism to post-modern left wing identity politics.

The World of Darkness especially is a critical fiction exploring the real world, warts and all. It’s not a very nice place. But we do believe the only way to responsibly portray real issues is to fearlessly confront them. In our opinion we would do our readers and players a disservice if we ignore controversial subjects in a misguided attempt to create a “safe” universe where racism, sexism and other deplorable tendencies do not exist.

For example; Vampire the Masquerade is, and always has been, about exploring the darker aspects of our world and human nature. This exploration absolutely ends at the borders of the game world; everyone at White Wolf thoroughly condemns hate groups, racism, and intolerance in real life. Any mention in V5 or our other works is not intended as an endorsement or facilitation of those kind of groups.

To be absolutely clear: White Wolf in no way supports hatred or intolerance in any form, against anyone, at any time. Our latest work, V5, was made with integrity by a team that cares deeply about the players, and we believe it will speak for itself - and as always, the feedback from everyone in the community helps us create even more supportive and meaningful experiences.

How do we do it - participatory transmedia

Our job at White Wolf Entertainment is to create a foundation for storytelling, to make stories happen in as many different formats as possible. While our lore originates from  RPG games we constantly work on expanding the universe into many different formats like novels, computer games, events and more. Our great licensing partners who knows how do make the best possible products in each medium helps our vision to come true.
We also do everything we can to make it possible for our fans to participate in these stories, larp it, publishing their own fan fiction, modding computer games and attend events and meeting other fans. White Wolf exists because our players engage with us - whether through play, critique, collaboration or just conversation. It is only by speaking with our players, and our community, that we make progress as a company with a long history like ours.

Why do we do it - make the world a better place

We strive to create entertainment that not only entertain but helps making the world a better place. Our belief is that by telling stories that reflects on the society and human behaviour of today we don’t only create enjoyable and thrilling products but can help people to “walk in somebody else's shoes” for a while and for constructive dialogue to happen. To bring people closer and understand each other better we believe is the right thing to do.

We do this by asking the difficult questions of life, giving tools to broaden people's understanding and compassion for how others might think. Throughout history some culture and art have always played such a role. We do not intend to push a particular political view or stance.

Our fundamental belief is that what goes around comes around. It means that we expect what we do and how we behave to others to highly influences how they will interact with us.

So below we share some examples of how you can expect a representative for White Wolf to behave and to what standards we strive to hold ourselves. It doesn’t mean we will condemn or comment on anyone else's ability to do so but simply that this is what we expect of the team at White Wolf and the persons and organisation who currently works with us.

What we expect of ourselves - what goes around comes around

We treat others like we ourselves likes to be treated

We act with respect and dignity to others, individuals as well as organisations

We listen in order to understand and we seek dialogue when we communicate

We strive to constant improve, so giving and welcoming feedback is as important to us as revering improvement

We communicate openly and transparent whenever we can but of course we keep strict on confidentially when needed

We think global

We aim to serve a global market, therefore we both appreciate and need to work with and serve people from all over the world, from all kinds of backgrounds, religions, ages and genders

We respect differences, in appearance as well as in views, and we believe that the only way to make the world a better place is to understand other people. By telling stories from different regions of the world, about different kind of people and points of views we aim to show the similarities and to bring people closer to each other in the end.

We consider it absolutely necessary that our products can be experienced in many different ways hence we support different styles of play, platforms and languages

We explore difficult questions, with care

Even when our content is examining difficult and sensitive topics our intention is to do it with most respect. Hence we make our best efforts to label it and do our best to finish the conversation.

When our stories are told they might be considered dark and contain mature content, however it should always be done to serve a purpose, never to be gratuitous

Where we draw the line

Harassment to us is when somebody attacks somebody else over and over again without respecting the other person, without seeking dialogue and understanding. We consider it to be damaging way to communicate and we dismiss any use of it.

We close the door on anyone showing hatred towards others due to the color of their skin, their political beliefs, their religion or origin and whoever propose or  practice violence against others. That kind of behaviour goes directly against how we believe we can make the world a better place.

We obviously follow rules and regulations, it should go without saying that it is everyone's responsibility to show respect for the environment, personal and public safety and to follow the law in whatever region you are in.
